Contexto, itinerario y relevancia de una colección olvidada: la presencia de isla Mocha en el Museo Nacional de Historia Natural

This paper studies an archaeological collection from Mocha Island (Biobío Region, Chile) obtained by the National Historical Museum between 1940 and 1954 through purchases and donations. The objects were transferred to the National Museum of Natural History in 1969 and registered between 2012 and 2013. The collection has not been studied, so the information it contains has not been integrated into the knowledge about the archaeology of the island accumulated over the last 30 years. We are interested in reconstructing the itinerary of the objects from their discovery until now, giving them a context according to the archaeological information gathered and assessing their relevance for the knowledge of human occupations on the island during almost 3,500 years of history.
